A New Announcement Coming

Last Friday (5th March)I was taking a break enjoying a nice cup of coffee, when the phone rang.
This was in relation to my advert for a Stud Colt. It totally blew my socks off. Well the short version is, I think I have a new Stud for my mares. I won't reveal too much at this stage, but an announcement will be forthcoming in the near future.
He is well and truly worth it!
People knowing me and where my tastes lie, will not expect this, however this sire suits me for a lot of reasons. I did say I was negotiable on my criteria!

When Will The Drought End?

Well I think everyone in Auckland and Northland is fed up with no grass growth, due to hot weather and lack of rain, myself included.
The little bit of rain we've had of late is a joke as the heat quickly evaporates it. Some of my paddocks are growing grass really well, as they are naturally a little damp, and I have the shade from tree's which is great, however the whole block is not like this, so I have to feed out as well.
The horses are doing well regardless. I can't complain too much as there are others worse off than me.
S.I. Eagles Facsimile

Frolicking Foals Competition

18th December 2009 Samantha from the Rural Trader telephoned to advise that I'd won the Frolicking Foals Competition, having entered photo's of S.I. Eagles Facsimile (a.k.a. Chyna). This was a very pleasant surprise, as I'm not a person to win very much, and I say this thinking of Raffle Tickets.

I'm very pleased that Eagle left me a little female replica of himself.
She will carry his pattern on in her foals.

Dark Bay C Grade Fewspot Filly

SI EAGLES GRAPHIC FX (Shakira) DECEASED

Very sadly i have to advise of the death of my very beautiful fewspot filly. Once again this occurred on the same farm as Eagles accident.
This same person put large number (approx 8) standardbred geldings in with my babies, TB and 3 yr old filly. Two of these standardbreds are dogging my horses and I'm sure Shakira was dogged at night and either viciously kicked or driven through a fence. I had the vet out, who felt sure she had a cracked or broken knee bone and she also had a lot of torn exposed flesh, and the vet was unable to give any assurance of a recovery. She felt sure the side of the knee would blow out, so I made the difficult decision not to go through all that I went through with Eagle and I had her put to sleep.

All of my horses have been promptly removed from this property. There is no safety there any more, since this farmers poor decisions caused the death of two of my horses, possibly three, since I lost a mare 6 weeks from foaling in 2004,in an inexplicable paddock accident.
Eagles Beautiful Head

Marires Eagle Passes Away

Sadly Eagle has passed away today (26th Nov) after an avoidable and traumatic accident and after a six week battle to save him.

All my thanks and appreciation goes to the vets who did there best for him.

R.I.P. my gentle boy. You'll never be forgotten.
2004 Gelding, by Balls Out (TB), o/o Midnight Azure Opal

S.I. Out Past Midnight (Tigger)

People may recall this gelding as Major or as his full pedigree name was SI Major Indiscretion. Melinda Miles is his new owner and she asked if she could name him. I agreed as names are so personal. I think his new name is very cool!
I have recently received an email from Melinda and these are her words:
He has been so brilliant with EVERYTHING! He just takes everything in his stride! I took him to his first ribbon day last weekend after only having him just over a week and he was so well behaved! We got 1st in ‘Best Mane and Tail’, 1st in ‘Journey Hack’ (walk, trot and canter on a loose rein), 2nd in Pairs, and 4th in “Grandma’s Hack”. I think we have another ribbon day next weekend.
Melinda confessed she was a little nervous getting back into riding but now feels she has the right horse for her. I'm very pleased he has a lovely home. After being started under saddle up North, he has now returned to the Auckland area and is living in Kumeu. Pedigree
